Field Worker Job Description - Winter season
Dates: December 28, 2026 – February 27, 2027
Location: Willow Haven Farm, New Tripoli, PA
Join our team this winter and help prepare the farm for another growing season. Work includes field cleanup, storing irrigation lines and weed barrier, mowing, spreading compost, maintaining cover crops, and preparing greenhouses for early planting.
Duties also include winter livestock feeding and care, operating farm equipment, basic equipment maintenance, light repairs to buildings and fences, snow removal, and starting seeds in trays.
Qualifications: Three months of farm experience, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Applicants must be comfortable with frequent bending, repetitive physical work, and working outdoors in cold temperatures.
On-farm housing and cooking facilities are provided at no cost.

About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking team member to help with seasonal winter work between harvest and spring planting. This temporary position includes field cleanup, livestock care, equipment maintenance, and greenhouse preparation on our organic farm.
What You’ll Do
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following seasonal agricultural tasks described in the job offer:
Retrieve and store irrigation lines and weed barrier fabric
Mow fallow fields, rototill soil, and plant and maintain cover crops
Provide winter livestock care, feeding, and handling; clean livestock areas and equipment
Spread compost or other organic materials using tractors, carts, or hand tools
Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled equipment to prepare fields and planting beds
Load crops or materials for transport, maintain supply inventory, and clean and organize work areas
Assist with repairs and maintenance of farm vehicles, implements, fences, buildings, and tools
Help with snow removal and basic landscape upkeep
Repair greenhouse benches, replace plastic, and fill planting trays with soil mix
Assist with seed starting and monitor greenhouse conditions and seedling germination
Qualifications
Three months of farm experience
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license to operate farm vehicles and transport materials

Our diversified farm utilizes organic practices and traditional farming methods such as composting, cover cropping, soil testing, and crop rotation. Our main product is our vegetable CSA for which we tend a great variety of plants from seed to harvest. We supplement our CSA experience with an On Farm Market every Saturday where members and the public can see all our seasonal vegetables on display as well as many of our other products. Reuben and Tessa DeMaster have a passion for nutrient-dense food, grown and preserved with traditional methods. As a result, we make unique seasonal products like fresh sauerkraut; kimchi; brick oven, whole grain sourdough bread; fruit spreads, and more. As part of our vision for a sustainable farm that continues to increase the fertility of the land we steward, we maintain small flocks and herds of pigs, cows, and chickens. These grass-fed, pastured animals return nutrients to the fields and provide high-quality eggs and meat that our customers and our families love. We’ve built this farm on a foundation of generations of Pennsylvania Dutch homesteaders and continue to bring small but valuable improvements each year such as our high tunnel, irrigation system, fencing, greenhouse, and outdoor brick oven.

Dedication to cooperative working and sustainable agriculture. The ability to work well with staff and other interns. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to work in all weather conditions, especially heat. Access to reliable transportation is important. Must enjoy people and especially children.

Field Worker Job Description - growing season
Dates: March 16, 2026 – December 12, 2026
Location: Willow Haven Farm, New Tripoli, PA
Join our farm crew for the full growing season. The field worker will operate and maintain tractors and implements for tillage, planting, cultivation, spraying, and harvesting. Additional duties include setting up and repairing irrigation, transplanting crops from greenhouse to field, and participating in all stages of crop production from seeding to post-harvest handling.
Vegetables grown and harvested include lettuce, radish, peas, beans, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, summer squash, sweet potato, onion, tomato, pepper, eggplant, broccoli, turnip, sweet corn, and garlic, as well as leafy greens such as bok choy, napa cabbage, kale, lettuce mix, tatsoi, and mizuna.
Qualifications: valid driver’s license, ability to lift 60 lbs, experience with equipment operation, frequent bending, stooping, and repetitive motion, exposure to all weather conditions.
Housing is available on the farm. Cooking facilities are provided.
