A Farm Share CSA from Willow Haven Farm is like a subscription for a box of organically grown vegetables from our farm for the whole growing season.

Farm Share and CSA are terms that have meanings that are evolving and end up meaning different things in different situations. We can talk about that later.

For now, we’ll explain to you what we mean.

Why a Subscription?

  • Well, it’s a farm membership.
  • And it’s for 10 or 20 weeks of veggie boxes from June – October.
  • It’s not just a one-time order.

What does a farm membership mean?

  • A season-long membership means that you are committing to eating vegetables from our farm.
  • It’s a way for you to support a local farmer.
  • It’s not just a box of veggies – you benefit from added value and special features. (More later.)
  • It’s a way for you to make a habit of eating more vegetables.

What comes in a farm share csa box?

That’s a great question and there are two answers:

  1. Whatever you choose.
  2. Whatever we have available each week.

When you you will be asked to rate the vegetables we grow by how much you like them. We’ll grow your more of your favorites and less of your non-preferred veggies.

  • You’ll choose a small, medium or large box for the season, which will determine the number of items you receive.
  • You might decide to add eggs, fruit, bread, cheese and flowers to your membership.
  • You’ll also be able to add extra farm products that are available that week: local honey, cheese, seasonal meat, extra veggies, herbs, fruit, etc.eN

What we harvest will change week by week. These examples from last year will give you the idea.

These pictures show the variety of what we harvested. To create a nice picture though, we aren’t showing exact quantities of each type of vegetable. For example, you’ll usually get a quart of potatoes, pint of snap peas or a bag of beans – not a small handful like shown.
